Our home office, built in 1900, is full of charm and interesting curiosities. When my husband recently had to pull up the floor in what had been the original kitchen, he discovered weathered newspapers stuffed under the boards. One headline from 1925 read: “PAIR GUILTY OF SELLING NIECE” This was human trafficking before there was a term for it.

Today, human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal enterprise. Our vigilance is more important than ever. We are making strides in the fight against trafficking. Legislation is changing. Services are provided to rescued victims. Awareness is growing among educators, healthcare professionals, and the community at large. But we must never stop advocating for those who have no voice. We must stand for freedom for ALL.
